I feel like no one ever talks about how torturous long-haul flights are. I suppose the rest of the trip makes it well worth the pain, but oh, the paiiiin.
The first 14 hours were okay, I guess. Despite the rude, rude lady sitting beside me who first insisted that her basically full-sized suitcase was suitable to be stowed under the chair in front (aka taking up half of my leg room), and then proceeded to ask me to use my phone to make an international call, um no! The positive was that I managed to sleep for about 9 of the 14 hours. Dean not so much.
Oh, before that we obviously went through Sydney airport.. FYI Hayley- there was no line, it was 4am though.
The second leg from Dubai to Heathrow was much quicker at only 7hours. We both slept a bit more, before we finalllllly arrived.
Our ride from the airport took forever! I spent the ride in awe of all the beautiful streets and suburbs.. This is what Dean "can't sleep on aeroplanes" Notman did....
Anyway, we're now checked into our hotel, fed & ready to wake up refreshed tomorrow for day 1 of our "hop-on hop-off" bus tour. Hopefully we'll have much more exciting photos to share tomorrow.
Stay safe family & friends..
