Parfait

Bonjour!

So yesterday was our last full day in Paris and having done the big things yesterday our 'to-do' list was brief. Dean started the day at the local Irish pub watching the North Melbourne game while I had my hair washed and blow dried.. It was heavenly!

We spent the afternoon wandering the Parisian streets before heading to Notredame for a glimpse of Quasimodo. No such luck, he must have been on bell duty that day.

We got to engrave our own lock (it's harder than it looks ok!) and lock it on the bridge... It was pretty difficult to find a spot but we managed!

Another delicious Parisian dinner and we headed to the Monteparnasse Tower for the best view in Paris! It's true that people say this is way better than going up the Eiffel Tower because you get the tower in your view as well as a complete 360 of the entire city. We timed it for the 10pm sparkle show which put my Eiffel Tower appreciation up about 200%. It's so much prettier at night and when it does glitter for those 5 minutes of the hour it's absolutely amazing.

Yesterday, we woke up early and said bye to Paris.
We arrived in beautiful Amsterdam which was soooo unbelievably confusing to navigate without a map. Luckily the Dutch are super helpful and we eventually found our hostel (about an hour & sore feet later).

This hostel is probably better than our hotel in London, it's really clean, pleasant & lovely.  We met up with the good-haired Melbournian Hesko who was also in town and ended up joining an organised pub crawl. It seemed like a great idea at the time, my head is disagreeing now. It was really fun, lots of shots just poured straight into our mouth (I suppose it saves on shot glasses?), so many friends made from all corners of the globe, so.many.drinks. Such a hangover.

Today we have just wandered around for a bit after we visited the Anne Frank House. It's a really incredible place & is so moving. Just to comprehend that 8 people lived in a tiny tiny space together for so long is just mind-blowing. It must have been a really horrible time to be alive.
I will definitely be getting myself a copy of the book when I get home!

We will probably head down to the red-light district tonight for a look at the famous girls in the windows. So far I'm super impressed with Amsterdam, it's absolutely stunning with all the canals and old style housing, I love it!

I'll try to take photos tomorrow because I was way to seedy today to even think about it.

I don't know how to say bye in Dutch so adios amigos x

PS. We only have really intermittent wifi here so if we are slow to respond or offline for a couple of days that's why :)
